Concert Band

The Concert Band is the cornerstone of the Instrumental Music program at Saydel. It is here that the students learn the foundation of music, and perform great pieces of Wind Ensemble literature. Starting at the end of October once Marching Band is complete, the Concert Band performs three concerts per year in our beautiful auditorium, competes at the Drake/Adventureland Festival of Bands, and participates in the annual IHSMA Large Group Contest.

Students also have the opportunity for solo and small group experience when every student takes an event--whether solo, duet, trio, or large group--to the IHSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest.

In addition, students who wish to go above and beyond are allowed to audition for or participate in the Iowa All-State Music Festival, Drake Honor Band, SCIBA Honor Band, Dorian Honor Band at Luther College, and the Heart of Iowa Conference Honor Band.
